Okra (Bhindi) Masala

Okra is also known as Lady's finger. This Okra masala is a Pakistani style inspired side dish made with okra, onions and spices.

To fry Okra:

  1. Heat 4 tbsp oil. Medium flame.

  2. Add ½ kg chopped okra, 2 finely sliced medium onion and shallow fry. Keep aside.

To make the masala

  1. Heat 4 tbsp oil. Medium flame.

  2. Add ½ tsp cumin seed, ½ tsp carom seed, ½ tsp asafoetida and saute until crackle.

  3. Add 3 green chilli, 1 tsp ginger and garlic paste, 1 tsp chilli powder, 2 medium pureed tomato, 2 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder and salt to taste. Saute with little water.

  4. Add 1 tbsp cream, 2 tbsp beaten yoghurt and fried okra.

  5. Add 1 tsp lemon juice. Saute for few minutes and serve.
