This is more than just a recipe. It's nostalgic. The scent alone brings back memories of our childhood visits to India.
A recipe straight from great-grandmother's kitchen passed down to us, made with prawns, spices and coconut.
Grind 4 tbsp grated coconut, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tbsp chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder and ½ tsp fennel seed together with little water until smooth paste. Keep aside.
Heat 4 tbsp oil. Medium flame
Add 1 thinly sliced medium onion and saute until just brown.
Add 2 green chilli, 1 chopped tomato and salt to taste. Saute until tomato softens.
Add grinded paste. Saute for few minutes or until aromatic. Add 1 cup water and bring to boil.
Add ½ kg prawns and few curry leaves.
Close lid and boil for 5 mins.
